Gadgets: The Spirit of Gaming

The E3 was quite an experience with mile long lines lasting for hours for folks just to be able to sneak a peek at the newest stars coming out for the holidays, Play Station 3, the Nintendo Wii, and the Xbox 360. There are countless blogs and opinions out there that will inform you that the Wii’s motion control sensing capability is better than the Playstation’s, which is why Sony only had one playable unit on the floor. The Wiimote is clearly the more advanced unit – at least during this beta test phase, however where they end up during actual distribution is still up for grabs. You’ll also likely hear that the PS3’s and the XBOX360’s graphics blow the Wii’s out of the water.

As with all gaming devices, as it has been since the Atari duked it out with Intellevision, gaming is completely subjective. There are pluses and minuses to each system and while the Wii’s graphics may not be that of the others, how cool is it to play games while using your hands as the controllers? We’d also like to point out to the female fans of Guyville that gaming isn’t a colossal waste of time. It’s an opportunity for us guys to unwind, and while many spouses and mates wonder why we can’t unwind while chatting about the happenings of the day, we absolutely can, we just can’t do it for more than fifteen minutes. So this marvelous holiday season, give us the opportunity to relax, unwind and meditate if you will. You don’t even need to ask what would be the best gift for your man this year. Surprise him with one of these systems and you’ll have the happiest camper at home, I promise.
