Gadgets: When the Lights Go Out
Posted December 7, 2006 12:39 PM
Okay, sure we live in uncertain times in an uncertain world where earthquakes, fires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and ay, geeze, the threat of terrorism always looms. It doesn't mean I'm going to run out and build a bomb shelter and erect a pair of super canons to defend my home from evil doers. What it does mean is that I want to keep emergency food, water and batteries on hand to make sure I've got a few days of goods available just in case something happens. I went through the 1994 Northridge quake and was completely unprepared for that. Hell I ran around in circles screaming and naked expecting to see Jesus at any second, and that's not an exaggeration at all. An extremely handy item to have on hand in case of emergency and an item we strongly recommend as the ultimate gift for the head of the household is the Black & Decker StormStation If the man of the house doesn't have this handy item that lights up when the power goes out, plus has a 12-volt charger, AND has a 25-watt power inverter, not to mention AM/FM/TV and weather frequencies, then he simply doesn't have it all. We think this is a great gift for every guy. Man want power...man need power...man got power. Ug.
