Gadgets: Co-Inventor Of Remote Control Passes
Posted February 21, 2007 7:41 AM
It's a sad day in Guyville as we mourn the loss of inventor, Robert Adler, co-creator of the greatest guy gift known to man, the remote control. Not that I'm that old, but I do remember the times where as a kid I'd have to get up to manually change the channels and adjust the volume. Frankly, it really stunk. It wasn't because the remote control hadn't yet been invented, it was because it was such a fantastic device, my old man used to hide it so the kids (mainly me) wouldn't break it. Things have changed quite a bit over the years and remote control technology has been drastically upgraded since that Zenith Space Command was born in 1956.

The new universal remote controls that we have today are so advanced that my Dad still hides them from us, even though I haven't lived in his house in nearly twenty years. I guess the fear is that I might always move back. Yikes...I just shuddered. If you have a chance, visit the Guyville Store and see just how far this great pioneer's technology has come. I'm going to get a third job and make sure that mortgage payment is paid in full.
