There are always things out there that you should and shouldn't watch and cooking shows are right there on the edge. The Food Network has some okay ones with Iron Chef and Emeril, though if I hear one more bam from him that's exactly what he's getting, but that's probably why they're on a television channel. No, the real cooks (pronounced cewks here) are on the internet cooking shows.
That's not to say there aren't some great cooks that post some delicious looking meals because there are a lot out there. They have how-to's and raw food preparation and some killer barbeque's if you look around, but looking around is the hardest part with all the junk food shows. It makes sense though as there is an abundance of food in the world with people that enjoy every variety of flavors, so why shouldn't each person come up with some way to prepare it? I'll tell you why. No, better yet I'll show you why (feel free to not watch the whole thing at all. Actually it's suggested):

If any of you guys really are into cooking or want to get into it a great place for recipes is epicurious, which has recipes from gourmet and bon appetit that are delicious.

Hey man, thanks for the links. I found some really great recipies on that epicurious site. I though I should pass on a link for a video with some great bbq and grilling. Hope this can help someone else.
