"Wii would like to play" has to be something all you guys have heard running across the TV more than a few times. Paying attention to it was a little harder with graphics that don't quite compare to the Xbox 360 or PS3, not to mention those weird controllers. But while those two powerhouse consoles do have graphics that blow your mind (i.e. any game), they both lack one thing that Nintendo's Wii does offer: a physical, interactive gaming experience.
Among the complaints lodged against the Wii, the most common seem to be centered around the graphics and the controllers. Leaving graphics aside, the controllers are definitely something unlike anything you guys have ever used. They use infrared lights and an accelerometer to interpret the motion of the wiimotes, which happens to be amazingly accurate. You guys will really notice it in the sports games that are offered with the Wii. After bowling and playing tennis you'll really notice how certain movements of the arm and wrist accurately affect the responses from the game. Boxing is probably the most fun though as it is as close to the arcade versions as you can get (fight night is fun, but there's just something about actually getting to throw punches and dodge and work your guard). There are plenty of other games offered also, one in particular being Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Now that game is insane. You have to run around fighting aliens but instead of just all-out assault on the enemies there are a ton of puzzles that have to be figured out as well. The puzzles are worked seamlessly into the gameplay and more often than not you have to figure it out while being attacked by enemies that continually respawn until you actually solve it. Overall the Wii, while lacking in the top end graphics (though they're still good), is an amazing gaming experience that is well worth the $250 price tag, especially when it's compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Hey guys, this just in from Pro Game News, Amazon.com is reporting that the Wii is their top selling wedding gift registry item. Can you believe that? Finally, a wedding gift for guys that makes sense. Next they'll be telling us that the Wii will save your marriage. Imagine that? Get in a fight with your wife and instead of screaming at each other, pop in Wii's boxing game and spar off.
