Gadgets: Telenav GPS Navigator: If you hate asking for directions, buy it

Getting lost sucks. But asking for directions sucks more.

Telenav must be a company created by someone just like me. Their GPS Navigator is a simple piece of software you add to your cell phone. With it, you get turn-by-turn directions, rerouting around traffic jams and all sorts of other fun stuff, like the cheapest nearby gas and available Wi-Fi access points.

If you have a Blackberry, all you need is the software. It costs $99 for a year.

If you have a Treo, you'll need a little GPS receiver. That costs another $99 - it connects via Bluetooth.

Telenav lists all supported cell phones and service providers on their site.

I've had the Treo version for about 10 days now. It works beautifully, steering me from a rentacar counter to a client's office without incident. My only complaint is the GPS receiver, which I dropped within 2 hours of purchase. It didn't break, but I was pretty pissed when I thought I'd wrecked it. Hey, Palm, get a clue and add GPS to the Treo, will you?!
