Gadgets: New iPhone 3G Review - Sort of

We were excited to do a review of this heavily anticipated gadget, but a strange thing happened on my way to the long lines at the Apple Store last weekend. After waiting in an endless line to see Hellboy II, and after spending a good two hours in good-old LA traffic to go about seven miles, I realized as I began to embark in yet another line, that was going to be another possible 3 hours, that I just didn't have it in me. So instead, we're going to do the next best thing and give you some highlights about this awesome device as reported by Gizmodo's recent review.
In a nutshell, they love the new iPhone. They specifically talk about the improved GPS, improved software capabilities, including a fabulous touch screen that is the best in the business. One of the only things they didn't love was the plastic, versus aluminum backing of the phone which apparently feels a tad cheaper than before. Wi-Fi reception is better than the old phone when conducting side by side testing. Also, according to data outside of Gizmodo, there is improved battery life with the 3G. Gizmodo will be doing more testing on that as well. Overall, they seem to agree with the general consensus that this is one heck of a great device at a great value. Since we won't have to brave the lines any more, we'll get our own and see for ourselves, but we found this review helpful.
