Sweeten Father's Day With Candy
June brings us two very important events, in my opinion -- Father's Day and National Candy Month. Most sons and daughters are aware that the third Sunday in June is dedicated to honoring the paternal bond, but who knew that June is also a time to celebrate sugary goodness?! From gumdrops to gourmet chocolate bars, candy is one of the most popular treats in the world; plus, it always puts you in a memory-making mood. I personally remember sharing cotton candy with dad at the circus and having him sneak me jelly beans behind mom's back even though my plate wasn't cleaned of green beans. But, I'm not the only one with a dad with a sweet spot for sweets, according to the CBS Early Show, below are some famous dads who go cuckoo for candy:
Michael J. Fox - Circus Peanuts
Alan Alda - Black Licorice Bites
Robin Williams - Bazooka Gum
Al Roker - Smarties
Jimmy Kimmel - Blow Pops
Bill Clinton - Payday
Jerry Seinfeld - Bit o' Honey
Tom Hanks - Boston Baked Beans
Steven Speilberg - Mike and Ike
David Hasselhoff - Jelly Belly Jelly Beans
So, if you are looking for a titillating, tasteful and sure-to-be appreciated gift for guys, especially on Father's Day, think candy -- and lots of it! There are hundreds and hundreds of types of candy; treat dad to his favorite filled up in a handsome container he can use later. An easy idea is to incorporate personalized gifts for men, such as a monogrammed beer mug, that you've filled up to the rim with bite-sized candies. You could substitute any type of barware or small container, keep dad's lifestyle in mind when picking your selection. Set the container filled with candy the center of a big sheet of cellophane, pull upward and tie off with a ribbon -- a Father's Day gift he's sure to dig into with delight.
