What is it about the popularity and unbelievable success of the Swiss Army products? I did a little digging on the company and realized that company founder, Carl Elsener, designed the early products himself in the company's infancy. The original Swiss Army Knife is over 100 years old and they produce and ship more than 34,000 of those little knives with the funky cross on them each and every day. So one would think, well there must be something to be said for a guy who has intense vision and grows his company the good old-fashioned way, through determination and hard work. The real kicker, however, is that all of the Swiss Army stuff is specifically designed to withstand treacherous conditions (hello, Switzerlandfreaking cold as a witch's tee-tee) like ice, snow, hail, floods, etc.
